The Cameroonian Football Federation (FECAFOOT) and the Cameroonian Red Cross (CRC) formalized a partnership this Wednesday in Yaoundé, marking a significant step for the health coverage of Cameroonian football stakeholders. The signing ceremony, which took place in the Red Cross amphitheater, brought together football personalities, including itinerant ambassador Albert Roger Milla, football administrators, heads of diplomatic missions and members of the Red Cross network.
The national president of the CRC, Mrs. Cécile AKAME MFOUMOU, and the president of FECAFOOT, Mr. Samuel ETO'O FILS, signed this agreement which commits the Red Cross to providing health coverage during FECAFOOT events, including football matches. The agreement also provides for the mobilization of volunteers and logistical resources, as well as raising awareness of health risks among the sports community. The CRC also undertakes to support football stakeholders through regular and adapted training, and to play a key role in the health care of athletes, including the organization of possible medical evacuations.
Samuel Eto'o Fils described this partnership as a "rare pearl", stressing the importance of players' health for the development of football in Cameroon. Cécile Akame Mfoumou also expressed her satisfaction with this nascent partnership, calling on football stakeholders to trust the Cameroonian Red Cross to ensure their health and well-being.
This agreement comes at a time when FECAFOOT is seeking to further professionalize Cameroonian football, with an emphasis on the health and safety of players. The collaboration with the Cameroonian Red Cross will ensure rapid and effective care in the event of injury or health problems on the pitch.
FECAFOOT is thus continuing to multiply initiatives to improve the environment of Cameroonian football, by partnering with credible and experienced partners in their respective fields. The health of footballers is becoming a priority, a sign of a desire to build sustainable and high-performance football.
