The Cameroonian Football Federation (Fecafoot) and the Ministry of Basic Education (MINEDUB) have joined forces to boost school football across the country. On Wednesday, March 25, 2026, the two institutions formalized their commitment by signing an agreement under the FIFA Football for Schools program.
Samuel Eto'o, president of Fecafoot, and Laurent Etoundi Ngoa, Minister of Basic Education, jointly sealed this ambitious agreement. The main objective is to integrate football into primary schools, thus offering young students an opportunity for learning and development through sport.
Launched by FIFA in 2019 in collaboration with UNESCO, the Football for Schools program aims to introduce the practice of football into education systems around the world. It is not only about encouraging physical activity from an early age but also about transmitting essential educational values for the personal development of children. The program is being implemented in 153 FIFA member associations.
Beyond the promotion of sport, this initiative will allow Fecafoot to detect young talents early on who may be able to join training centers such as Anafoot. By integrating professional football into primary schools, the federation hopes to create a pool of talented players for the future.
Together, Fecafoot and MINEDUB aim to strengthen the place of football in Cameroonian schools, thus transforming sport into a real tool for education and development for young students. FIFA's Football for Schools initiative aims to reach 700 million children worldwide.
