The Cameroonian Football Federation (FECAFOOT) has announced a more ambitious and competitive edition of the Cameroonian Ballon d'Or in 2025 compared to previous years. Jean-Marie Nkoussa, FECAFOOT's communications director, stated on the AFRICA VISION SPORT show on Vision4 that this edition aims to be more challenging, with numerous awards to recognize Cameroonian footballers.
Beyond the main trophy, FECAFOOT aims to diversify the awards to highlight all the actors of the game, including local players, expatriates, young talents, coaches and other deserving figures. This strategy aims to strengthen the institutional recognition of individual performances and stimulate competitiveness within the various leagues.
This desire to raise the standard of the ceremony reflects a broader ambition: to restore the prestige of national awards and permanently establish the event on the African sporting calendar. For FECAFOOT, the promotion of players is not limited to a simple end-of-season gala but is part of a structural project to improve the image, conditions and recognition of Cameroonian footballers, both locally and internationally.
By increasing the number of awards and involving its partners, the federation intends to create a virtuous dynamic around excellence and merit. This sends a strong signal to national football stakeholders at a time when professionalization and media visibility are major issues.
The 2025 edition of the Cameroonian Ballon d'Or will be held on February 27, 2026, at the Palais des Congrès in Yaoundé. The awards will include, in addition to the usual check, a new vehicle and a plot of land. Boris Mfoumou, Nsanfeu Konrad and Serge Daura are in the running for the men's Ballon d'Or, while Ornella Beulou, Fraiche Lys Tiwa and Lema Nkoussa are nominated for the women's award.
