The third edition of the European Film Festival, organized by the European Union in Cameroon in partnership with Cinéma Numérique Ambulant (CNA) Cameroon, took place from February 9 to 23, 2026. This initiative made it possible to screen films and encourage the exchange of ideas in several localities, including Yaoundé, Ébolowa, Douala, Penka-Michel and Bafoussam.
Under the theme “the cinema of tomorrow: Na Weti?”, CNA Cameroon reaffirmed its commitment to making cinema accessible to populations that are far from it. The main objective is to democratize access to cinema by creating spaces for dialogue around the works screened.
Joël PAGOUE, Project Manager of CNA Cameroon, shared his feeling of satisfaction with this human and technical adventure. He pointed out that the team traveled through the Center, South, Littoral and West regions, reaching nearly 1,000 spectators. Beyond the figures, the emotional impact is essential, because cinema becomes a creator of social connection.
The festival program was designed to create a cultural bridge between Europe and Cameroon, presenting both European films and recent Cameroonian works. The goal is to promote local talent while opening a window to the world, choosing films that educate and amaze. The partnership between the CNA and the European Union, which is in its third edition, demonstrates mutual trust and a desire to make mobile cinema an essential element of cultural dissemination in Cameroon.
Despite the challenges encountered, in particular the mobilization of the public during the week, CNA Cameroon strives to innovate in terms of local communication and flexibility of schedules. Born in 2012, CNA Cameroon considers itself an image activist, seeking to bring African cinema, whether fiction or awareness documentaries, to where cinemas no longer exist. The CNA is an international network of mobile cinema associations present in several African countries and in France.
The Cinéma Numérique Ambulant (CNA) was created in 2001, alleviating the closure of cinemas in sub-Saharan Africa. CNA is one of the most important distributors of African films on the continent.
The CNA screens films from the African cinematographic heritage and organizes screenings followed by discussions.
