Stade Brestois midfielder Éric Dina-Ebimbe has strongly expressed his pride in representing Cameroon, stating that the national team is one of the best in Africa. In an interview with Foot Mercato, he compared Cameroon to South American football giants such as Brazil and Argentina.
Dina-Ebimbe, who became a Cameroonian international last December, highlighted Cameroon's historical importance on the African stage. "Cameroon? It's the best African nation, there's nothing better. Historically, Cameroon in Africa is the equivalent of France in Europe or Brazil and Argentina in South America," he said. He also noted that many players do not have the chance to participate in World Cup qualifiers, highlighting the privilege of being Cameroonian.
The 25-year-old, who has been playing for Stade Brestois since September 2025, also spoke about the future of the national team, expressing optimism about its potential. Despite reaching the quarter-finals at the last Africa Cup of Nations (CAN), Dina-Ebimbe believes the team still has considerable room for improvement.
"We reached the quarter-finals of the CAN without knowing each other. I didn't know the guys, I had never played with them, I had never seen them. Yet, we managed to do something interesting," he explained. He anticipates an improvement in team cohesion and performance by the end of 2026, with the arrival of new talent. He concluded by praising the current organization of the team.
