Bamboutos FC concluded the first leg of the MTN Elite Two season with an emphatic victory, rebounding after a defeat against Bafmeng United. The Mangwa Boys dominated Kumba City FC, a promoted team, at the Mbouda Municipal Stadium in a match counting for the 7th day.
Coach Charles Kamdem aimed to recover after his team's recent underperformance. The match, initially scheduled earlier, was postponed due to heavy rains the day before, eventually taking place under a cloudy sky.
Bamboutos FC stormed out of the gates from kickoff. Patrick Michiyo quickly made his mark, beating goalkeeper Desire Oyong after just two minutes of play, opening the score to 1-0. This goal set the tone for an offensive showcase by the Mangwa Boys. Renzo Azong Amih followed in the 9th minute, bringing the score to 2-0.
However, as on the previous day, heavy rain fell on Mbouda, temporarily interrupting the match. After a short break, referee Guimbang A Etong Aline allowed the game to resume. Patrick Michiyo continued his momentum, scoring again in the 29th minute, bringing the score to 3-0.
Despite the efforts of Richard Ebanda and his teammates, Kumba City FC struggled to gain ground on the soaked field. Michiyo completed his hat-trick just before halftime, in the 46th minute, sealing a rout for the promoted team. David Egbe reduced the score for Kumba City in the 77th minute, but it was not enough to disrupt Bamboutos FC's determination.
Bamboutos FC secured a convincing 4-1 victory, finishing the first leg on a positive note. Despite the defeat, Kumba City FC remains at the top of Group B.
