Ecobank Cameroon has achieved a remarkable financial performance in 2025, closing the year with a record net profit of FCFA 27.292 billion. This represents a 30% increase compared to the FCFA 21.05 billion recorded the previous year. The announcement was made at the bank's annual general meeting, held on April 30, 2026, in Douala.

According to Ecobank Cameroon, this result exceeds initial budget forecasts by 34%. The bank specified that this performance remains subject to the approval of the Banking Commission of Central Africa (COBAC), the regulatory body for the banking sector in the Central African Economic and Monetary Community (CEMAC). COBAC plays a vital role in supervising banks in the region, ensuring they comply with prudential standards and maintain adequate capital reserves.

Ecobank Cameroon's management attributes this progress to several key factors, including the implementation of its GTR (Growth, Transformation, Returns) strategy, which emphasizes growth, transformation, and profitability. The bank also highlighted the importance of increased revenue, the acceleration of the digitalization of its services, the development of intra-African trade, risk cost control, as well as the strengthening of financing operations and improved operational efficiency.

Ecobank Cameroon considers this profit to be the highest ever recorded since the start of its operations in the country in 2001. The bank emphasizes that this performance was achieved in a challenging socio-political and economic context.

In detail, Ecobank Cameroon's total assets stood at FCFA 616.99 billion, up 5% year-on-year and 13.4% above budget forecasts. Outstanding loans increased sharply by 51% to reach FCFA 234.3 billion. Net banking income amounted to FCFA 55.11 billion, up 10%, while pre-tax profit increased by 27% to FCFA 28.928 billion.

The bank's profitability also improved, thanks to a 3.2% decrease in operating expenses and a 51% decrease in net allocations to provisions, which, according to Ecobank Cameroon, reflects an improvement in asset quality.

For 2026, Ecobank Cameroon plans to strengthen deposit collection, improve the loan approval process, and further diversify its revenue by targeting new growth drivers. These objectives demonstrate the bank's desire to consolidate its position in the Cameroonian market and continue its growth trajectory.

The Ecobank Group also recorded solid results on a pan-African scale, with a pre-tax profit of $801 million in 2025, up 21% compared to the previous year. The return on tangible equity (ROTE) stood at 27.8%, reflecting the group's strong profitability. These performances enabled the group to propose a dividend of $40 million, demonstrating its ability to create value for its shareholders.
