The Douala Tennis Club (TCD) is hosting the ITF J30 tournaments from April 6 to 18, 2026, marking a significant milestone for this sports infrastructure in Cameroon's economic capital. For the first time, the club is hosting this international competition, open to young tennis players aged 13 to 18.
The event includes two separate tournaments. The first took place from April 6 to 11, and the second will be held from April 13 to 18. Participants, coming from Cameroon, Africa, Europe, and America, are competing to earn valuable points in the world rankings. Each tournament offers winners the opportunity to gain 30 ITF points.
Eric Tanga, the tournament director, emphasized the quality of the organization and welcomed the Douala Tennis Club's successful entry into this type of competition. "It's a new adventure for the Douala Tennis Club, which is also starting to excel in this setting and style of tournament. For the first time, it's a masterstroke," he said.
Jeanine Ngo Nsoga, the club's administrative manager, explained that significant improvements have been made to the infrastructure to host the event. "For the past two months, we have been working hard. We have set up everything. That is, improving the infrastructure. The courts and changing rooms have been refurbished," she said. The Douala Tennis Club, one of the oldest in Cameroon, has six tennis courts, a major asset for organizing such tournaments.
Until October 2025, the Oyebog Tennis Academy (OTA) organized the April session in Kake-Souza. Now, the Douala Tennis Club will host the first major ITF J30 tournaments of the year, while OTA will retain the organization of the October events.
The Tennis Club de Douala is located a stone's throw from the Hotel Sawa and is considered the oldest sports institution in the city. It offers activities for all levels, from initiation and coaching for beginners to training for competitors. The club also offers court rentals, an equipment store, and a relaxation area.
The ITF J30 tournaments at the Douala Tennis Club take place every day from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
