A horrific act of violence occurred in the CCC neighborhood of Douala on Monday, February 23, 2026. In the late afternoon, a man brutally attacked a woman, believed to be his partner, on the grounds of a school in the La Fontaine area. The victim had sought refuge in the school to escape her attacker.
According to initial reports, the man, armed with a machete, stormed into the school and fatally wounded the woman by slitting her throat. Another woman, witnessing the scene, attempted to intervene but was seriously injured.
Residents of the neighborhood, alerted by the noise and panic, quickly reacted and attempted to lynch the assailant. The swift intervention of the gendarmerie allowed them to extract him from the angry crowd and place him in custody. An investigation was immediately opened to determine the exact circumstances of this femicide and the motivations of the perpetrator.
