MAGIL Construction has reaffirmed its commitment to completing the rehabilitation of Douala's eastern entrance and has proposed the construction of a second bridge over the Dibamba River. This announcement was made during a meeting between the Minister of Public Works, Emmanuel Nganou Djoumessi, and Mr. Ralph Tropea, a representative of MAGIL, on Tuesday, February 24, 2026.

The works on the eastern entrance, with an estimated overall progress of 85%, are expected to be completed by June 2026. MAGIL plans to complete the base layer of the roadway by the end of February and the wearing course by the end of May. The installation of public lighting and signage will follow, with completion scheduled for June.

In addition to the rehabilitation of the eastern entrance, MAGIL has expressed interest in constructing a second bridge over the Dibamba River, presenting a financing offer to the Minister of Public Works. The initial contract, signed in December 2019, provided for both the rehabilitation of the entrance and the duplication of the bridge. However, budgetary constraints in 2021 had limited funding to only the road section of the project.

The effective resumption of work on the eastern entrance took place in December 2025, following the payment of outstanding invoices. The company's base, which had been destroyed during the post-election crisis, has been fully restored. The subcontractor MAG SARL shows an execution rate of 90% for the pavement works.

The Minister of Public Works stressed the importance of integrating young graduates into infrastructure projects and announced a field visit to assess the progress of the work. MAGIL's proposal for the second bridge over the Dibamba opens up prospects for improving the mobility and economy of the city of Douala.

The Eastern Entrance project and the proposed second bridge over the Dibamba are key elements for the development of Douala's infrastructure.
