The Minister of Public Works, Emmanuel Nganou Djoumessi, paid a working visit to Douala on March 6, 2026, to assess the progress of the East Entrance Road project. He noted that the project is nearing completion, with satisfactory progress on the ground.
Technical teams are actively mobilized, and MAGIL Construction Corporation, the company in charge of the project, reports an overall progress rate of 84.8%. Contractual deadline consumption is estimated at 94.8% over the planned 51 months. Work on the road section, entrusted to subcontractor MAG, is also progressing significantly, with gutters fully completed in both directions of the roadway.
Significant progress is visible on certain sections, particularly on the 3.1 km section connecting the ARI roundabout to social housing, where work exceeds 11% completion. On the ARI – Yatchika Public School segment, the installation of interlocking pavers is also progressing, with nearly one kilometer already completed, representing approximately 40% completion.
The Ministry of Public Works is confident that the Douala East Entrance Road will be completed before mid-2026 if the current pace of work is maintained. The rehabilitation of the Douala East Entrance Road (phase 2) was confirmed by the Magil delegation during a hearing granted by the Minister of Public Works, Emmanuel Nganou Djoumessi, on February 24, 2026. The base layer is expected to be completed by the end of February, the wearing course by the end of May 2026, and the lighting and signaling work by June 2026.
In parallel, Minister Nganou Djoumessi also assessed the emergency maintenance work on the Yaoundé-Douala road, emphasizing the importance of rapidly improving traffic conditions on this major route.
