As the conflict between the U.S., Israel, and Iran enters its second week, U.S. President Donald Trump has issued a direct warning to the Iranian armed forces. The message, released as Israeli-American airstrikes intensify over Tehran, urges the Revolutionary Guards and Iranian military to lay down their arms or face death.
"I am calling on all Revolutionary Guards and armed forces in Iran to lay down your weapons, otherwise you will die," Trump stated. This declaration comes after six days of joint military operations by the U.S. and Israel within Iran, targeting nuclear facilities, military sites, and regime infrastructure. The operation, dubbed "Epic Fury" by the U.S., also seeks to prompt regime change in Iran.
The initial strikes resulted in the neutralization of Iran's Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, and several of his close associates. In response, Iran has launched attacks on U.S. bases and countries throughout the region. The conflict has expanded to multiple countries in the Middle East and beyond, affecting as many as 14 nations.
Trump has also stated that he should be involved in choosing Iran's next Supreme Leader, ruling out Mojtaba Khamenei, the son of the late Ayatollah. "We want someone that will bring harmony and peace to Iran," he said.
The conflict has already resulted in significant casualties, with over 1,230 deaths in Iran, more than 120 in Lebanon, and around a dozen in Israel, according to officials in those countries. Six U.S. troops have also been killed. The future of the region remains uncertain as military operations continue and tensions escalate.
