David Eto'o, the younger brother of football legend Samuel Eto'o, has openly discussed the choices that, in his opinion, hindered his career as a professional footballer. In a candid testimony, he admits to having prioritized the pleasures of nightlife over hard work, a mistake he bitterly regrets.

"When I was in Mallorca, I loved partying more than my work," he confesses. This confession reveals a lack of discipline at a crucial period in his journey, where his potential suggested a career at the highest level. He remembers the warnings from those around him, including Alex Song, who was worried about his nocturnal escapades: "I was told you were seen in Paris, what are you doing in Paris when you're training?"

David Eto'o also mentions a failed trial at Auxerre, where coach Guy Roux offered him a salary much lower than what he was earning in Mallorca. Despite the advice of his brother Samuel, who encouraged him to seize this opportunity, he preferred the lure of immediate gain. A choice he regrets today, aware of having missed out on a potential career progression.

"Believe me, if I hadn't given up, I might be playing for Real Madrid now," he says, clear about his wasted potential. He points to a certain relaxation, favored by the material support of his older brother, but fully assumes responsibility for his mistakes.

David Eto'o concluded his interview by saying he was proud to have changed people's perception of him. Formerly seen as Samuel Eto'o's brother, he has proven his worth and forged his own path. His testimony is intended as a message to young footballers: concentration and discipline are the keys to success.
