A group of employees at the Société de Recouvrement des Créances (SRC) has sent an explosive letter to the Minister of Finance, denouncing a series of internal dysfunctions and warning of a risk of the institution's collapse. In this letter dated March 23, 2026, the employees, who wished to remain anonymous for fear of reprisals, describe opaque management, a deteriorating social climate, and practices that jeopardize the future of the SRC.

At the heart of the accusations is the deterioration of the social climate. Employees denounce human resources management marked by instability and precariousness, where the payment of salaries is seen as a favor and often carried out at the limit of regulatory deadlines. They describe a climate of terror, made up of humiliation, psychological pressure, and abusive dismissals. Inequalities in promotions and non-payment of certain bonuses are also denounced.

On the financial front, the accusations are just as serious. The group denounces unjustified real estate expenses, including more than 500 million FCFA spent each year for a partially unoccupied headquarters, despite the existence of its own assets. Inconsistent management of the vehicle fleet is also pointed out, with acquisitions deemed inappropriate and unused vehicles, even though basic equipment is lacking in certain departments. Employees also suspect irregularities in the awarding of public contracts and are concerned about a fire sale of real estate assets under management, facilitated by questionable revaluation mechanisms.

The company's governance is also called into question. Of seven departments, only two are effectively staffed, with the others operating on an interim basis, concentrating power at the top. Employees warn of a lack of internal control, which favors concealment and violation of procedures, also citing legal risks related to contractual breaches and non-compliance with court decisions. They criticize the general management, accusing it of acting with a sense of impunity and favoring projects abroad, while the organization of costly events on the fight against corruption is seen as a sham.

Faced with this alarming situation, SRC employees are calling for a thorough investigation and a rigorous audit. They believe that rapid intervention by the authorities is essential to prevent the company's collapse, stressing that they have fulfilled their duty to raise the alarm and that it is now up to decision-makers to act before it is too late. The SRC, created in 1989, is a public company responsible for debt collection on behalf of the Cameroonian State.
