The price per kilogram of cocoa beans is showing improvement in Cameroonian markets, approaching the end of the 2025-2026 season, scheduled for July 15.
According to data from the Système d’information des filières (SIF) of the Office national du cacao et du café (ONCC), the price has fluctuated between 1,550 and 1,650 FCFA per kilogram since May 6, 2026. This increase allows it to cross the symbolic threshold of 1,500 FCFA, after weeks where prices were closer to 1,300 FCFA.
Despite this increase, current prices remain below the records of previous seasons. During the 2024-2025 season, the kilogram reached 5,400 FCFA, after a peak of 6,000 FCFA in 2023-2024. At the launch of the 2025-2026 campaign, authorities were banking on prices between 3,200 and 5,400 FCFA per kilogram.
Analysts attribute this gap to prospects of increased global production. The International Cocoa Organization (ICCO) anticipates a recovery in supply after three seasons of deficits. A production surplus could exert downward pressure on prices, both internationally and in Cameroon.
In March 2026, the FOB (Free on Board) price for premium cocoa beans at the port of Douala stabilized at 1,521 FCFA per kilogram. Cameroon aims to reach an annual production of 300,000 metric tons by the end of the 2026 cycle, positioning itself as the 4th largest producer in the world. The Center region (Mbam-et-Kim) contributes approximately 45% of the national volume, followed by the South-West (Kumba, Mamfe) with 30%.
