The Caisse Nationale de Prévoyance Sociale (CNPS) and Innovendi Data Technologies and Communication Ltd have entered into a strategic agreement to propel the Douala-Bonabéri Autonomous Port into the digital age. The CNPS, a leading Cameroonian institution, is committed to structuring the financing of the port's digitalization and modernization project, in collaboration with Innovendi, a subsidiary of Contacturer Investment Holding.
This memorandum of understanding, signed on March 4, 2026, in Yaoundé, follows the BOT (Build-Operate-Transfer) concession agreement concluded in November 2025 between the Douala Autonomous Port (PAD) and Innovendi. The main objective is to transform the port into a leading technology hub in Central Africa, integrating advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things (IoT), and automated logistics flow management systems.
As a major institutional investor, the CNPS brings essential financial strength to the project, while Innovendi, a telecom operator focused on technological innovation, will deploy the necessary digital infrastructure. This public-private partnership (PPP) aims to modernize and strengthen the competitiveness of the Cameroonian port platform, aligning it with international standards for smart ports. The project will include a dedicated 4G/5G network, IoT solutions, local cloud services, and advanced cybersecurity tools.
The transformation of the Douala-Bonabéri Autonomous Port into a Smart Port is expected to improve logistics efficiency, operational traceability, and the port's attractiveness, while supporting the digitalization of Cameroon's strategic infrastructure. This ambitious project positions Cameroon as a key player in port modernization in Central Africa.
The financial terms of the agreement remain confidential, but the CNPS's entry into the project's capital marks a decisive step, providing an institutional financial guarantee to this innovative public-private partnership.
