CIMENCAM Figuil demonstrated its commitment to local development by officially handing over two modern school buildings to the Biou Bilingual Primary School (North) and the CETIC of Goulfey (Far North) on February 17 and 19, 2026. This investment of FCFA 40 million aims to improve the teaching and learning conditions for students and teachers in these localities.
Just eight months after starting its operations, CIMENCAM Figuil took a significant step towards local development by providing four classrooms fully equipped with desks and benches. The main objective is to improve the learning environment and relieve overcrowding in schools facing high demographic pressure.
For the company's management, this action is fully in line with their corporate social responsibility policy. Simon NDO, Deputy Director of CIMFIG, emphasized that the success of a company remains closely linked to its social environment and that investing in education is investing in the future of the nation.
At the CETIC of Goulfey, the construction of the new classrooms addresses a critical situation where the institution had nine classrooms for sixteen divisions, creating an overload that was not conducive to optimal pedagogical supervision. The new infrastructure will reduce this overload and improve the quality of teaching.
The public authorities and municipal officials welcomed this contribution from CIMENCAM Figuil. In Biou, the representative of the Sub-Prefect of Figuil expressed the administration's gratitude for this constant commitment to the people. The first Deputy Mayor of Figuil assured that the municipality will ensure the maintenance of the buildings. The Mayor of Goulfey recalled that the sustainable development of a territory is based above all on the education of its youth.
As a historical player in the cement industry in Cameroon, CIMENCAM relies on the expertise of the Holcim group, a world leader in building materials. The company employs more than 380 employees and operates four industrial units through its subsidiaries CIMENCAM Figuil and Quarry Cam. CIMENCAM launched the "School Excellence" initiative in 2023, rewarding top high school students in Figuil and Biou.
Beyond the construction of school infrastructure, the group highlights several impactful actions, including renovated schools, an excellence program for top students, and tree planting. Ranked among the socially responsible companies in Cameroon, CIMENCAM confirms its desire to combine industrial growth and corporate citizenship. These new classrooms symbolize a partnership approach to development, where the private sector and communities work together to improve the daily lives of the people.
