Chad's Société Tchadienne des Dépôts Pétroliers (STDP) is looking to the experience of Cameroon's Société Camerounaise des Dépôts Pétroliers (SCDP) to strengthen its storage infrastructure. A delegation from the STDP's general management made an official visit on February 24 to the SCDP's general management, with the aim of establishing a "lasting strategic partnership".

The STDP, created in 2018, is preparing to inaugurate its first oil depots in Djamalaye, about 30 kilometers from N'Djamena. The SCDP is positioning itself as a key partner in this build-up. "We are proud to contribute to this rise in power by sharing our expertise," says the public company.

Véronique Moampea Mbio, Director General of the SCDP, assures that her company will support the STDP, highlighting a "know-how that will be beneficial". Discussions focused on operational standards, safety measures and best practices in the management of oil depots, areas where the SCDP claims solid expertise.

The SCDP, created in July 1979, presents itself as the first and only company ensuring the storage and distribution of petroleum products on a national scale in Cameroon. It has a network of 13 depots spread across 7 regions. In 2022, its storage capacity reached 242,000 m³ for liquid petroleum products and 3,970 metric tons for liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).

Beyond the sharing of expertise, this collaboration highlights the growing importance of regional public operators in securing oil supply chains, in a context where storage needs and security requirements have become energy sovereignty issues. By drawing on the SCDP's experience, STDP aims to guarantee Chad's energy security and better regulate the hydrocarbon market.
