The third edition of the Hemlé Futsal Tournament culminated on April 5, 2026, at the Bilingual High School in Deido, Douala. The event was marked by surprises, especially in the men's category, where CFAF Comobil clinched the title.
CFAF Comobil, a newcomer to the world of futsal, defied all odds by winning the trophy in this third edition. The players from Collège des Lauréats succeeded Tcheuffa Sports, who were eliminated in the semi-finals. "My players and I are discovering futsal. We have learned a lot from this competition. For the next editions of this tournament, we plan to focus on rigor in the game and be a little more seasoned. We have experienced defections. Our squad was not complete, but we fought," said David Tchamalieu, the coach of CFAF Comobil.
In the final, the CFAF Comobil men's team, led by their captain Alexandre Ndoumbe Ngangue, defeated AJSAC in a penalty shootout (1-0) after a goalless draw. Despite this defeat in the men's final, AJSAC was able to celebrate the victory of their women's team.
AJSAC Women confirmed their dominance in the tournament by winning the title for the third consecutive time, defeating Lions Sport 3-0. "We are very happy. We won with great difficulty. In the semi-final, it was complicated, but we were able to recover. We hope to win the Cameroon Futsal Cup and the championship later," said captain Nicole Edimo Ebongue. The AJSAC women's team aims to win the Cameroon Futsal Cup and the national championship, titles they have already won in the past.
Maxime Foto, the promoter of the tournament, expressed satisfaction with the technical level displayed by the participants. He also stressed the need to organize more futsal tournaments each year to encourage the development of the sport. "The performance of the players has improved. The teams are preparing to face the title holders, which makes it a real challenge. However, it must be said that one tournament per year is not enough. If in the coming years we do two or three per year, that will do the trick," he said. He also hopes to increase the number of participating teams and the rewards for players in future editions.
The Hemlé Futsal Tournament continues to grow in popularity and contribute to the development of futsal in Cameroon. The victory of CFAF Comobil and the continued success of AJSAC Women testify to the rise of this sport in the country. The next step for these teams may be to aim for competitions such as the African Women's Futsal Cup of Nations.
