Cameroon's Minister of Housing and Urban Development (Minhdu), Célestine Ketcha Courtes, received the Ambassador of Equatorial Guinea to Cameroon, H.E. Mr. Armando Kote Echuaca, on Thursday, March 12, 2026.
The discussions primarily focused on strengthening collaboration between Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea, particularly in the crucial area of urban development.
Mr. Armando Kote Echuaca emphasized the importance of strengthening South-South cooperation, proposing sector-specific meetings between the technical ministries of both countries. The aim would be to coordinate the planning, development of national infrastructure, and urban modernization.
The Ambassador also mentioned the possibility of establishing twinnings and promoting the sharing of experiences and best practices between the two nations, with a view to sustainable development by 2030-2035. This vision aligns with the desire of the Heads of State of both countries to prioritize the future of their nations through sustainable development.
This meeting follows a series of agreements and bilateral discussions aimed at strengthening ties between Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea. In November 2025, the Vice-President of Equatorial Guinea, Teodoro Nguema Obiang Mangue, visited Yaoundé to discuss cooperation in defense, trade, and telecommunications. In February 2026, the two countries signed a cooperation agreement for the joint exploitation of the Yoyo-Yolanda transboundary gas field.
These initiatives demonstrate a common desire to strengthen regional integration and promote the economic and social development of both countries. The meeting between Célestine Ketcha Courtes and Armando Kote Echuaca is part of this dynamic of increased collaboration, focused on sustainable urban development.
Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea intend to consolidate their partnership to achieve the sustainable development goals set for 2030-2035.
