Célestin Djamen, president of the Alliance Patriotique Républicaine (APAR) party, has announced the appointment of Hermann Heutcheu as the APAR's departmental coordinator for Mfoundi. The decision, dated February 21, 2026, was made public on February 25, 2026.
Mr. Heutcheu will hold this new position in addition to his current role as National Secretary for Education and Political Training within the party. He thus replaces his predecessor as departmental coordinator. Mfoundi, which includes Cameroon's political capital, Yaoundé, represents a strategic challenge for APAR, particularly as the 2026 political deadlines approach.
In the grounds for his decision, Célestin Djamen stressed the importance of the political stakes in 2026, both in the capital and throughout the country. Célestin Djamen, a Cameroonian political figure, founded the Alliance Patriotique Républicaine in 2021. He was national secretary for human rights of the Mouvement pour la Renaissance du Cameroun (MRC) before creating his own party. Djamen has announced his candidacy for the 2025 presidential election, with the main points of his program being the limitation of the presidential term and a democratization of access to the Constitutional Council.
APAR, under the leadership of Célestin Djamen, therefore appears to be actively preparing for the upcoming elections by strengthening its organization and presence on the ground. The appointment of Hermann Heutcheu as departmental coordinator for Mfoundi is a testament to this strategy.
