The Cameroonian journalistic community is mourning the loss of Arnaud Nguefack, a journalist at Canal 2 International. The news of his death, which occurred on March 1, 2026, was confirmed by several sources, notably via the WhatsApp statuses of his relatives.
The exact circumstances of his death remain unclear. While some sources mention an illness, Zéphyrin Koloko, publishing director of the newspaper L'Avenir and president of the Mutuelle des journalistes du Cameroun (Mujac), indicated that Arnaud Nguefack succumbed to a traffic accident. A Mujac team had visited him after the accident. Another journalistic source confirmed having received a photo of his damaged vehicle, along with the message that the accident had almost cost him his life.
Arnaud Nguefack was a familiar face in the Cameroonian media landscape. As a senior reporter at Canal 2 International, he was known for his immersive storytelling style and distinctive voice. He covered many significant events, from social issues to complex political topics. In 2025, he notably provided remarkable coverage of the hearings related to the assassination of journalist Martinez Zogo. He also hosted shows such as "Mots pour maux" and "La Rétro".
In March 2025, Arnaud Nguefack reported that he had been the victim of a traffic accident involving the vehicle of the president of the Cameroonian Red Cross. He had initially considered filing a complaint before dropping the idea.
Arnaud Nguefack's body is currently at the morgue of the Yaoundé General Hospital. His passing leaves a huge void in the hearts of his loved ones and his many colleagues. In June 2025, he participated in a seminar for experienced editors from French-speaking Africa, organized by the Chinese authorities.
