Cameroon's U17 Lions have won the 2026 Uniffac tournament, retaining their title. The victory came on Friday, February 27, at the Tata Raphaël Stadium in Kinshasa, against the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
Saïdou Alioum's team dominated the host country in front of a large crowd. Baliag and Arnold Massekon scored the two goals that sealed the match.
The Lionceaux's journey was flawless. They first largely dominated Gabon on the first day with a score of 5 goals to 1. Next, they followed up with a 2-0 victory against the Central African Republic (CAR). Finally, they finished in style by defeating the DR Congo.
Cameroonian striker, Arnold Massekon, particularly shone. The Best Talent Sport Academy player thus wins his second consecutive tournament, with two goals and an assist. In total, the Lionceaux leave undefeated with three wins in as many matches, nine goals scored and only one conceded.
The national team left the DR Congo this Saturday. Now, the technical staff is turning to the preparation of the next Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON 2026). The goal is to do better than in the previous edition, where Cameroon was eliminated in the group stage after a defeat against Egypt. Morocco was chosen to host the U17 AFCON 2026. The competition will take place from April 25 to May 15.
