Cameroon's National Communication Council (CNC) has suspended Boney Philippe, the General Manager of Media at Groupe L’Anecdote and a well-known figure for his Sunday program "Club d’Elites," for one month. This decision, announced shortly after his appointment as head of Vision4, follows statements made on that same program.
According to the CNC, the incriminating statements were broadcast during the editions of February 8 and 15, 2026. The regulatory body considered that certain remarks made during these broadcasts called into question the integrity of the presidential election of October 12, 2026, and directly targeted the Prime Minister.
Consequently, Boney Philippe is prohibited from engaging in any journalistic activity during this suspension period. The CNC reiterated that media professionals are required to strictly adhere to the rules of ethics and responsibility that govern the handling of information.
This sanction comes as Boney Philippe had just been promoted to the position of General Manager of Media at Groupe L'Anecdote, a nomination seen as a sign of confidence and recognition for his work at Vision4. He will therefore have to observe a month's absence from the screens, a paradoxical situation after this recent promotion.
The CNC regularly insists on the need for the media to guarantee reliable information that respects institutions. This suspension of Boney Philippe illustrates the regulator's desire to enforce these principles, even on leading media figures. The case reopens the debate on freedom of expression and the limits of political criticism in the media in Cameroon.
