The Cameroon Women's Football League (LFFC) has responded to the ultimatum issued by the National Union of Cameroonian Footballers (SYNAFOC) regarding payment delays attributed to Guinness, the main sponsor of women's football. Sidonie Tagne, Secretary General of the LFFC, spoke out to defend the partnership and clarify the payment process.
In a message to the press, Sidonie Tagne explained that the process of paying monthly per diems to players is rigorous and requires collaboration from the clubs. According to her, each club must identify the 25 players to be paid and provide their individual bank statements. She stressed that opening an account at UBA, FECAFOOT's banking partner, is free to facilitate these transactions.
Tagne specified that Guinness makes payments by direct transfer within ten days of receiving the necessary documents. The LFFC, as a specialized body of FECAFOOT, has been requesting these documents from club presidents since September 2025, with monthly reminders. However, some clubs only submitted the required information after March 17, which caused delays.
The Secretary General of the LFFC insists that there is no reason to criticize Guinness, which she considers a privileged partner of women's football in Cameroon. She highlights the brand's commitment to the development of Cameroonian women's football through the Guinness Super League.
This stance by the LFFC comes in a context where Cameroonian women's football is seeking to professionalize and ensure better financial stability for its players. Collaboration between governing bodies, clubs and sponsors is essential to achieve this goal.
