The Indomitable Lions suffered a 1-0 defeat against Australia at Accor Stadium, in their first match of the FIFA Series in March. While the result left a bitter taste, the match provided an opportunity to assess individual and collective performances. The match, played on the night of March 22, 2026, highlighted some players, while others struggled to stand out.
The only goal of the match came in the last ten minutes, following a defensive error by Samuel Kotto, who failed to intercept an opponent's pass. A blow for the Lions, who may have been hoping for a penalty shootout, in accordance with the tournament regulations.
Despite the defeat, some players managed to shine. Ryan Fosso, in his first selection for the national team, was one of the revelations. Starting in midfield, the SK Sturm Graz player impressed with his ability to defend, pass and break through opposing lines. At 23 years old, he left a favorable impression.
Arthur Avom also confirmed his potential. In the absence of Carlos Baleba and Franck Zambo Anguissa, he took the reins of midfield, showing himself to be active in all areas of the game.
