The Minister of Secondary Education, Nalova Lyonga, has announced the postponement of the third term resumption for secondary school students in Cameroon to April 27, 2026. This decision follows an adjustment to the school calendar due to the rescheduling of the national finals of the FENASSCO (National Federation of School Sports Associations of Cameroon) League "A" games.
Originally scheduled for April 8 to 15, 2026, the FENASSCO finals will now take place from April 19 to 26, 2026, in Bafoussam and Bangangté. This change has led to the postponement of the resumption of classes for the final term of the 2025/2026 school year.
The Ministry of Secondary Education's statement specifies that this change has been approved by the Prime Minister, Head of Government. Students will thus benefit from more than two weeks of vacation, a duration longer than the usual 14 to 16 days of previous years.
Despite this extended holiday period, Minister Nalova Lyonga calls on regional delegates and all concerned officials to monitor the students. She insists on the need to take adequate measures to ensure effective monitoring and the proper implementation of catch-up courses in all secondary schools, while ensuring compliance with the school calendar.
FENASSCO is an important school sports competition in Cameroon, and the League A games bring together the best young talents in the country. The 2026 edition will place special emphasis on the ongoing digitalization at MINESEC, particularly with the use of the unique learner identifier.
This postponement of the school resumption aims to allow the smooth running of the FENASSCO finals while ensuring educational continuity for secondary school students. The vigilance of educational officials is therefore essential to optimize this period and ensure a successful end to the school year.
The 2025-2026 school calendar initially scheduled the end of the third term for April 2, with a resumption initially set for April 20.
