Cameroon News

The Cameroonian Football Federation (FECAFOOT) has officially referred the case to the competent legal bodies following incidents that occurred during the 2025 Cameroon Super Cup match between Panthère du Ndé and Fauve Azur. The match, held in a tense atmosphere at the military stadium in Yaoundé, was marked by a prolonged interruption due to an arbitration dispute.

The encounter escalated after a penalty, deemed questionable, was awarded to Panthère in the 69th minute. This decision sparked outrage among Fauve Azur's players and supporters, leading to a suspension of play until the 90th minute, when the referee ultimately blew the final whistle. The presence of Samuel Eto’o, president of FECAFOOT, along with former Indomitable Lions and other dignitaries, was not enough to ease tensions.

In an official statement, FECAFOOT specified that the entire file, including the match report, official reports, and other supporting evidence, has been submitted to the legal authorities for review. The federation reiterated that the technical assessment of gameplay falls exclusively under the referee's authority and that any dispute must be conducted in accordance with regulatory procedures. FECAFOOT insists that the decision to validate the match, award the trophy, and impose any disciplinary sanctions rests solely with the legal bodies.

While awaiting the decisions of the competent bodies, FECAFOOT has called on supporters from both sides to remain calm and respect the regulations. The outcome of this case will determine the champion of the 2025 Cameroon Super Cup and could lead to disciplinary sanctions for those involved in the incidents. The governing body of Cameroonian football hopes that the decisions taken will preserve the integrity of the competition and ensure respect for the rules of the game.

All eyes are now on the conclusions of the legal committees, which will have to rule on the validation of the match and the awarding of the title. FECAFOOT is counting on a swift and fair resolution to close this chapter and look towards the future of Cameroonian football.
