Cameroon's health sector has received a significant boost with the signing of partnership agreements between the Ministry of Public Health and six organizations committed to the health field. The ceremony took place on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, in the ministry's conference room in Yaoundé.
The partner organizations are FAIRMED, the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation (EGPAF), the African Development Foundation (ADF), For Impacts in Social Health (FIS), the Cameroon Baptist Convention Health Services (CBCHS), and the Marguerita Holistic Health Center (M2HC). These agreements focus on several strategic areas, including strengthening primary health care, improving maternal, neonatal, and child health, combating HIV/AIDS and priority diseases, ensuring equitable access to health services for vulnerable populations, and developing sustainable health financing and governance mechanisms.
The involvement of these organizations will result in strengthening local capacities, promoting community health, combating pediatric HIV, preventing mother-to-child transmission, and supporting community and faith-based initiatives in healthcare delivery. The Minister of Health emphasized that these agreements align with the national health policy, following the directives of the Head of State and government priorities. He also noted that these agreements establish a framework for collaboration based on reciprocal commitments, aiming to ensure a favorable environment and effective coordination of interventions, while aligning them with national priorities.
Three essential principles will guide the implementation of these agreements: strategic alignment, operational complementarity, and mutual accountability. The Ministry of Public Health reaffirmed its belief that current health challenges require a collaborative approach focused on cooperation, innovation, and solidarity.
The diversity of the actors involved demonstrates the vitality of the public-private partnership and the complementarity between the State and its technical and financial partners. Through these agreements, the Cameroonian government reaffirms its commitment to building a more inclusive, resilient, and community-responsive health system.
