The popularization of updated internal regulations for Cameroonian primary schools was officially launched on March 4, 2026, in Yaoundé, under the chairmanship of the Secretary of State to the Minister of Basic Education, Dr. Asheri Kilo Fofung. The event marks a significant step in modernizing the governance of primary schools in the country.

The ceremony, held at the Djeuga Palace Hotel, brought together personalities from various backgrounds, including representatives from the World Bank and UNESCO for Central Africa, as well as the Secretary General of the National Commission for the Promotion of Bilingualism and Multiculturalism. Administrative officials, staff from the central and decentralized services of the Ministry of Basic Education, technical and financial partners, partner ministries, and civil society organizations were also present.

Technical presentations were given by the Director of Nursery and Primary Education, Dr. Minfoumou Olou Louise née Edou, and by the Deputy Director of Primary Education, Mr. Andela Yves Placide. Their presentations focused on the project's objectives, including updating internal regulations, establishing evaluation and monitoring tools, funding sources, stakeholders involved, and expected results.

The Secretary of State expressed her gratitude to national and international partners, emphasizing the importance of their contribution to this initiative. She stated that these new regulations aim to establish clear rules for school life, define the rights and duties of each member of the educational community, and ensure a school environment based on respect, discipline, and safety. These tools are considered essential to improve the governance of institutions and strengthen educational success.

Dr. Asheri Kilo Fofung emphasized the innovations brought about by these regulations, which align with national basic education policies and strategies. They also contribute to Sustainable Development Goal 4, which promotes inclusive, equitable, and quality education for all. The initiative aims to create a more structured educational framework conducive to the development of Cameroonian students. The implementation of these updated regulations represents an important step towards improving the quality of basic education in Cameroon.

The Programme to Support Education Reform in Cameroon (PAREC) and the Department of Nursery and Primary Education of the Ministry of Basic Education were also commended for their role in this reform.
