The Ministry of Secondary Education (MINESEC) has announced the extension of the biometric census for educational staff until April 15, 2026. This decision, officially communicated through a radio and press release, follows the massive interest observed on the ground since the operation was launched on March 9, 2026.

Initially planned for a shorter period, the operation has been extended to allow all secondary school teachers to regularize their situation. The Minister thus wished to give everyone the opportunity to comply with the requirements of this important census. All personnel included in the MINESEC budget, whether stationed in Yaoundé, Douala, Bafoussam or in rural areas, are affected by this measure.

The main objective of this biometric census is to improve transparency and modernize human resource management within MINESEC. The aim for the Cameroonian State is to control the actual workforce, detect fictitious agents and secure the budget allocated to secondary school teachers' salaries. This initiative is part of an administrative reform that has been expected for several years.

The biometric census of teachers is part of a broader context of modernization of the Cameroonian public administration. The government has undertaken several initiatives aimed at improving human resource management and fighting corruption. The digitalization of processes and the use of biometric data are key tools to achieve these objectives.

Beyond the simple identification of agents, this census will establish a reliable and up-to-date database, thus facilitating the planning of personnel needs and career management. This is a long-term investment for education in Cameroon. MINESEC stresses that this operation guarantees total transparency in the management of State human resources.
