A Cameroonian influencer, known under the pseudonym "Zizou," is at the center of a controversy after being accused of fraud by using the name of Samuel Eto'o, the current president of the Cameroonian Football Federation (FECAFOOT). The case has gained traction on social media, sparking strong reactions.
According to the accusations, Zizou, who is also a couturier, allegedly promised a plaintiff to put her in direct contact with Samuel Eto'o in exchange for one million CFA francs. The plaintiff claims to have paid the sum, but allegedly heard nothing from the influencer afterwards. Faced with this silence, she decided to make the matter public and demand her money back.
Zizou categorically denies these accusations, assuring that he has not committed any fraud and promising to restore the truth. However, online testimonies suggest that it could be a larger-scale scam.
For the time being, the case has not been brought to justice and remains at the stage of accusations. However, it highlights the risks associated with the misuse of the names of influential personalities, particularly on social networks, where such cases can quickly escalate and make it difficult to distinguish between established facts and rumors.
This case underscores the need for increased vigilance in the face of promises made online and recalls the potential dangers of identity theft in a constantly evolving digital context. Samuel Eto'o is considered a major influencer in Cameroon.
