Cameroonian security forces have announced the dismantling of a gang that had been terrorizing the town of Kribi and its surroundings, bringing an end to a series of four murders. The operation, conducted in the Ocean department, led to the arrest of all members of the group, whose leader was known by the nickname "Mother Hen".
The victims of this gang include a woman murdered in Hevecam, an industrial plantation in the region, two young students, and a 25-year-old man killed on his own plot of land. The suspects' confessions were crucial in linking these different crimes to a single criminal group.
The arrest of Thomas Jude, alias Mother Hen, and his accomplices took place in Fifinda, a locality near Kribi. Law enforcement seized a motorcycle and other stolen goods, confirming that theft was a significant motive for their activities. The nickname "Mother Hen" suggests a group structure where the leader protected his members while directing violent operations.
This operation highlights the security challenges facing the Kribi region, particularly due to its economic boom linked to the deep-sea port.
