The Cameroonian audiovisual landscape is in mourning. Veyreton Adrien Tafen, better known as Foly Dirane, the iconic host of the show « Délire », passed away on Thursday, March 26, 2026, at the Yaoundé General Hospital. He was 68 years old.

Born in 1958 in Bafoussam, Foly Dirane was more than just a host. As a presenter, producer, trainer, singer, and director, he left a mark on several generations of Cameroonians. It was mainly through « Délire », launched in the early 1990s, that he won the hearts of the public. The show, broadcast for 17 years, was a springboard for young artists, blending entertainment, training, and cultural expression. Names like Jacky Biho, Kris Badd, and many others made their debut thanks to this program.

The announcement of his death sparked widespread emotion across the country. On social media, tributes are pouring in, reflecting the profound impact he had on the Cameroonian media landscape. Many remember his humor, unique style, and ability to discover new talents. « He left his mark on several generations, helping to reveal and mentor many talents on the Cameroonian music scene, » says a former collaborator.

In recent months, Foly Dirane's health had raised concerns. On February 12, the Minister of Public Health, Dr. Malachie Manaouda, visited him in the hospital, assuring him of the government's support and full coverage of his medical expenses. « We must remain positive. Be strong. Send him positive vibes. He is strong in his head, he will be fine. Do not feel alone, we are together, » the minister declared.

His career at CRTV began in 1987, after being noticed by Éric Chinjé for his talent as a host. Before becoming an iconic figure on television, Foly Dirane taught at Sainte Beuve College in Bangangté and at Integ in Douala. His show « Délire » stopped being produced in 2016, but its influence remains undeniable.

Foly Dirane's passing comes shortly after that of Consty Eka, another figure in Ivorian television. As Cameroonians mourn the loss of this pillar of audiovisual media, memories of « Délire » and its host continue to resonate.

The artist's family awaits the official announcement regarding the funeral arrangements. Foly Dirane leaves behind the image of a man who marked the history of media in Cameroon.
