A Boko Haram attack targeted the Rapid Intervention Battalion (BIR) post in Bargaram, in the Hilé-Alifa district, Far North region of Cameroon, on the night of February 25 to 26, 2026. The assault left at least five dead, including one Cameroonian soldier.

According to security sources, a group of armed men from a neighboring country attacked the BIR post around 2 a.m. The response from the Cameroonian military resulted in the neutralization of four assailants.

In addition to the loss of life, the Cameroonian army seized a significant military arsenal from the attackers, including two Kalashnikovs, an M21 rifle, a PKM, an AC rocket, four hand grenades, as well as hundreds of rounds of ammunition of various calibers and chargers.

A similar attack had already targeted the same BIR post on the night of February 18 to 19, 2026. The army's response then resulted in the death of five terrorists, also from a neighboring country.

These repeated attacks underscore the continued threat of Boko Haram in the Far North region of Cameroon, despite the efforts of Cameroonian security forces and military operations carried out in the area. Vigilance remains essential in the face of this terrorist group, which continues to plague the Lake Chad Basin.
