Cameroon plans to mobilize over 500 businesses for the 139th edition of the Canton Fair, which will be held in Guangzhou, China. The primary goal is to enable Cameroonian economic operators to acquire industrial machinery and forge new trade partnerships. This initiative was presented at a press conference organized in Douala on February 26 by the China-Cameroon Business Association (CCBA), in collaboration with the Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Crafts (CCIMA) and CCA Bank.
The Canton Fair will take place in two phases, from April 15 to May 5, 2026, and then again in October. According to Alain Daniel Yando, president of the CCBA, this event attracts over one million participants from around the world each year, providing Cameroonian companies with a platform for visibility and expanded access to the international market.
The focus will be on acquiring equipment and import solutions to support Cameroon's industrial transformation. The CCIMA, which has been present at the fair since 2018, aims to establish partnerships to accelerate the local processing of raw materials, in line with the National Development Strategy (SND30).
The CCBA highlights its network of over 2,000 partner companies and its cooperation with the Nova International Cooperation Platform, which provides access to a network of over 100,000 companies. These networks aim to facilitate trade and increase sourcing opportunities for Cameroonian businesses.
CCA Bank offers international financing and payment solutions to support businesses in their import-export operations. The goal is to reduce the risks associated with cross-border transactions through structured mechanisms.
The initiative aims to translate this commercial mobilization into concrete industrial results, in line with Cameroon's development goals. The massive participation of Cameroonian companies in the Canton Fair could stimulate economic growth and strengthen the country's competitiveness in the international market. The fair offers a unique opportunity for Cameroonian businesses to modernize and increase their production capacity.
