Cameroonian international James Eto'o played a crucial role in CSKA Sofia's victory during the 24th week of the Bulgarian championship. CSKA Sofia hosted OFK Botev Vratsa this Wednesday, following a defeat against Professional FC. Starting in the attacking lineup under coach Hristo Yanev, Eto'o contributed to his team's vital win.
The match proved more challenging than anticipated. The home side struggled to find their rhythm against a solid defense set up by Botev Vratsa's coach, Todor Simov. The visitors even came close to opening the scoring, raising the intensity of the encounter. The first half concluded in a goalless draw.
Returning from the locker rooms, both teams displayed increased commitment. The decisive moment arrived in the 69th minute when James Eto'o provided a crucial assist to his teammate Santiago Leandro Godoy. The center-forward seized the opportunity to beat goalkeeper Lyubomir Vasilev, sealing the victory (1-0).
Thanks to this 12th victory of the season, CSKA Sofia climbs to fourth place in the standings with 40 points. James Eto'o, 25 years old, joined CSKA Sofia in 2024.
CSKA Sofia's next match is scheduled for March 8, 2026, against Lokomotiv Sofia.
