Manchester United forward and Indomitable Lion, Bryan Mbeumo, opened up in an unfiltered interview, revisiting key moments in his career and personal life. He notably discussed his distinctive haircut, Samuel Eto'o's call that influenced his international career choice, and his experience at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Mbeumo humorously recounted how a clumsy barber was the origin of his shaved head, which has become his signature. While he still had some hair, a visit to a new barber resulted in a disastrous cut. Faced with the result, he made the radical decision to shave it all off himself.

The Cameroonian international also shared the story of his recruitment to the national team. In 2022, while he was playing for Brentford, Samuel Eto'o, the president of FECAFOOT, contacted him via Instagram. Despite a missed initial call due to his habit of not answering unknown numbers, the two men met in London. Eto'o laid out his vision for the Cameroonian team, convincing Mbeumo to join the Indomitable Lions.

The 2025 AFCON was a significant experience for Mbeumo, who described it as one of the best moments of his career. He was impressed by the unique atmosphere of the competition, the fervor of the African fans, and the intensity of the matches. Mbeumo also highlighted the team's performance, which surprised observers by achieving a solid run. Cameroon was eliminated (0-2) by Morocco in the quarter-finals of the 2025 AFCON. Mbeumo believes that there was a clear penalty on him during that match.

This first participation in the AFCON strengthened his attachment to Cameroon and makes him want to continue the adventure, with the 2026 World Cup in sight. Mbeumo does not hide his ambitions and growing influence within the team, accepting the responsibilities that come with his status.

Transferred to Manchester United in the summer of 2025 for £71 million, Mbeumo explained that he was attracted by the club's project and his desire to take on a new challenge. He signed a five-year contract with the Red Devils.

As of March 2026, Mbeumo does not rule out the possibility of becoming captain of the Cameroon national team.
