Cameroonian forward Bryan Mbeumo has revealed the origin of his signature hairstyle: a shaved head. In an interview relayed by Mboa Culture, he explains that this choice was born from a combination of factors, including progressive hair loss and an unfortunate experience at the barber.
"I was getting to the end, I didn't have much hair left," Mbeumo confides. Faced with early balding, he recalls a visit to a barber that went wrong during the Covid-19 lockdown. "I tried a new barber. But he really messed me up. He ruined my haircut because I still had a few small regrowth." The result was so disastrous that Mbeumo decided to take matters into his own hands.
Armed with his own clippers, the Cameroonian international radically changed his look. "I looked at myself in the mirror and said to myself: this is not possible. I took my clippers - I always have some at home - and I shaved everything off. I said to myself: that's it, I'm taking the plunge," he says. What could have been a hair disaster has turned into a statement of self-affirmation and a distinctive style.
Mbeumo, who plays in the English Premier League with Brentford, has become a key player for the Indomitable Lions. His hairstyle, now embraced and done by himself, has become an integral part of his identity on and off the field. He embodies an image of confidence and simplicity.
