Cameroonian winger Bryan Mbeumo shared his thoughts on his first Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) with the Indomitable Lions, calling it a landmark experience in his career.

Mbeumo highlighted the intensity and unique atmosphere of AFCON, comparing it to the World Cup in terms of importance and emotion. "AFCON? For me, it was one of the best football experiences of my career along with the World Cup. AFCON is beautiful," he said, relayed by MboaCulture.

He also expressed satisfaction with the Cameroonian team's performance in the competition, noting that the Indomitable Lions exceeded the expectations of many observers. "In the end, we had a very good AFCON. I think there are a lot of people who were doubtful about whether we were going to perform or not," he added.

Cameroon began their AFCON 2025 campaign with a historic 1-0 victory against Gabon, their first ever AFCON win against their Central African neighbors. Karl Etta Eyong scored the decisive goal in the sixth minute, after a precise pass from Bryan Mbeumo.

Despite this good start, Cameroon's journey was fraught with obstacles. The team experienced internal difficulties before the tournament, with changes of coaches and conflicts between Samuel Eto'o, the president of the Cameroonian Football Federation, and Marc Brys, the coach appointed by the Ministry of Sports. These difficulties culminated in the publication of two different player lists and the appointment of two separate coaches.

In the quarter-finals, Cameroon were defeated by the host country Morocco by a score of 2-0. Despite this defeat, Mbeumo and many Cameroonians consider that the Indomitable Lions achieved an honorable performance during this AFCON 2025.

The Cameroonian team, also known as the Indomitable Lions, is the national football team of Cameroon. It is controlled by the Cameroonian Football Federation (FECAFOOT) and is a member of FIFA and CAF. Cameroon has won five Africa Cup of Nations titles.

Although the goal was to win a sixth star, the AFCON 2025 experience remains a highlight for Bryan Mbeumo and a source of pride for many Cameroonians.
