The British company PROPAV Infrastructure LTD recently conducted an exploratory mission in Cameroon, signaling its interest in road and urban projects in the country. Paula Miguel Priego, Head of Financial Structuring and Institutional Relations at PROPAV, met with several government officials to discuss potential collaborations.
At the Ministry of Public Works, the company examined the Bekoko–Limbé–Idenau road project, a 107 km initiative in the South-West region, including the Mutengene–Buéa section and an access road to the port of Tiko. The cost of this project is estimated at over 113 billion FCFA. Although there is no set timetable, the Cameroonian government is actively seeking partners to finance and implement this project. Studies have been completed, and the project could move to the operational phase if the current procedures are successful and if Propav submits a technical and financial offer deemed satisfactory.
Simultaneously, Paula Miguel Priego met with the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Célestine Ketcha Courtès, in the presence of the British High Commissioner to Cameroon. Discussions focused on urban projects such as the “Yaoundé Cœur de Ville” program, the urban section of the Yaoundé-Nsimalen highway, the Yaoundé bypass, and the rehabilitation of roads in various cities.
PROPAV Infrastructure LTD positions itself as a major player in infrastructure and energy solutions, with a notable presence in Latin America and Africa, particularly in Tanzania, Guinea Conakry, Uganda, Ivory Coast, and Zanzibar. In Tanzania, Propav has signed contracts for the construction of roads and an airport in Zanzibar, financed by Deutsche Bank and Citibank, with the support of UK Export Finance. These projects, worth over 400 million euros, are expected to create more than 2,000 jobs.
The Bekoko–Limbé–Idenau project, examined by Propav, was the subject of a 113 billion FCFA rehabilitation contract signed in late November 2024 with the Italian company ATI BONISA. The works, which consist of transforming the corridor into a modern two-lane highway, began at the end of March 2025.
Propav's interest in Cameroon is part of its expansion strategy in Africa, where it aims to contribute to socio-economic development through sustainable infrastructure projects.
As of December 2025, rehabilitation work on the Buea-Mermoz-Sasse-Wotutu-Mile 4-Limbe road was underway, highlighting Cameroon's continued commitment to improving its infrastructure.
