The Bogo-Pouss road construction project in Cameroon's Far North region has reached a milestone, with 15.20 km of roadway paved with bituminous concrete between Bogo and Guirvidig. The overall progress of the construction is now estimated at 40.54%.
According to officials from the Ministry of Public Works, work on the Guirvidig–Pouss section (30.86 km), entrusted to XINJIANG COMMUNICATIONS CONSTRUCTION GROUP CO, LTD, is approximately 40% complete. Despite cash flow constraints slowing the pace of execution, work continues.
Art structures on this section show a completion rate of 4.86%. Foundations are 9.88% complete, excavations at 31% and backfilling at 29%. Certain important steps such as B30 concrete for piles and deck, mass concrete and sonic pile testing have not yet started.
The Bogo-Pouss road, with its 15.20 km already passable, is gradually becoming a reality for users.
This Bogo-Pouss road construction project, essential for the Far North region, has faced difficulties. In April 2025, the Ministry of Public Works issued a formal notice to the Chinese company XCCG due to significant delays. The Chinese Embassy in Cameroon became involved to facilitate dialogue between stakeholders and revive the work.
Meanwhile, the death in detention of Anicet Ekane, a leading opposition figure, continues to spark reactions.
