BGFIBank Cameroon has decided to reward its shareholders with a dividend of 12 billion FCFA for the 2025 financial year, a 20% increase compared to the 10 billion distributed the previous year. This decision, announced following the general meeting on April 10, 2026, reflects the robust financial health of the Cameroonian subsidiary.
This dividend increase is supported by a net profit of 15 billion FCFA recorded in 2025, up 18% compared to the previous year. The bank is thus redistributing approximately 80% of its profits to its shareholders, a sign of its profitability and the BGFI group's desire to enhance its presence in Cameroon. BGFI Holding Corporation remains the majority shareholder with 70.69% of the capital, followed by the State of Cameroon (20%) and local private shareholders (9.31%).
In parallel with this generous distribution, BGFIBank Cameroon has also carried out a significant increase in its share capital, raising it from 20 to 50 billion FCFA, an increase of 150%. This recapitalization, approved at the board meeting on February 27, 2026, demonstrates the group's confidence in Cameroon's growth potential and its desire to support the development of its subsidiary. This decision also allows BGFIBank Cameroon to comply with the new requirements of the Banking Commission of Central Africa (COBAC), which has raised the minimum share capital of banks to 25 billion FCFA.
BGFIBank Cameroon, present for 15 years, aims to strengthen its position in the retail banking market, targeting individuals, small businesses and liberal professions. This strategy aims to diversify its customer base and ensure sustainable growth in its revenues. Henri-Claude Oyima, CEO of the BGFIBank group, considers Cameroon as a major "growth hub" and wants to position the bank among the leaders of the Cameroonian financial sector.
The combination of a dividend increase and a strengthening of equity suggests an offensive strategy by BGFIBank Cameroon, aimed at consolidating its position in the market while rewarding its shareholders. It remains to be seen whether this dynamic will be confirmed in the coming years.
