The Ministry of Basic Education (MINEDUB) has ordered an administrative investigation following allegations of sexual violence against a four-year-old girl at a school in Yaoundé. The decision, formalized by a correspondence dated May 28, 2026, follows the dissemination of information on social networks concerning events that allegedly took place at the Olympic Glory School in Odza.

The regional delegate of Basic Education for the Centre region has instructed the departmental delegate of Basic Education for Mfoundi to conduct an investigation to establish the veracity of the accusations. The commission of inquiry established will have to verify the authenticity and materiality of the alleged facts, according to the terms of the official correspondence.

The investigations will not be limited to verifying the facts. The commission will also have to gather testimonies from school officials, staff, parents, and local residents. Anyone likely to provide useful information for the investigation will also be heard. The review of surveillance systems, access control mechanisms, and child safety measures within the institution is also planned. Investigators may consult surveillance camera recordings.

Educational authorities want to determine whether administrative, professional, or ethical failings were committed in this case. Conservative measures could be proposed to strengthen the protection of students.

The commission of inquiry is chaired by the departmental delegate of Basic Education for Mfoundi and includes several administrative and pedagogical officials, including inspectors, service managers, and executives from the regional delegation.

The regional delegate insisted on respecting several principles during the investigation, including the confidentiality of the investigations, the protection of the child concerned, respect for the presumption of innocence, and non-interference in possible judicial proceedings. The case, now in the hands of investigators, is causing strong emotion and raises questions about the safety of children in schools.
