The national coach, David Pagou, expressed satisfaction with the work done by his team, despite the absence of Bryan Mbeumo, who ultimately did not join the team in Australia. Of the 26 players called up, 25 were present for this final training session. Pagou emphasized the importance of this tournament to observe new players and prepare for the future of the team, especially after failing to qualify for the 2026 World Cup, a consequence of tensions between the Minsep and Fécafoot.

The Cameroonian coach, who took over the team in December 2025, is aware of the challenges ahead. His atypical background, marked by his experience in the local championship and his notable stint at PWD Bamenda, gives him an in-depth knowledge of Cameroonian football. Pagou is counting on discipline, organization and team spirit to restore the image of the Indomitable Lions.
