A kidnapping attempt was narrowly thwarted on Thursday near the Yaoundé General Hospital when a motorcycle taxi driver refused to return a child to his mother after arriving at their destination. The mother, who was accustomed to placing her child in front of her on the motorcycle, faced resistance from the driver as she tried to get off.
The situation quickly escalated when the driver refused to release the child, causing the mother great distress. Her cries alerted passersby and local residents, who intervened to subdue the driver. Women took the mother and child to safety, while the men dealt with the motorcycle taxi driver.
