Francis Ngannou's lightning-fast victory over Philipe Lins continues to generate reactions, including a touch of humor from Aristide Mono. The Cameroonian consultant and politician jokingly commented on the quick knockout during his appearance on the show "Droit de Réponse" on Équinoxe TV on May 17, 2026.
Aristide Mono joked about staying up late for a fight that ended in seconds. "First of all, I would like to point out to Francis Ngannou that he owes me several hours of sleep, because you can't stay up from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. to experience only a few seconds of fighting," he declared, before specifying that it was irony. Ngannou knocked out Lins at 4:31 of the first round.
Beyond the joke, Aristide Mono wanted to salute Francis Ngannou's performance, as well as his civic engagement. "I still salute the man's performance. Especially since, during the last presidential election, he sided with the "bottom of the bottom" by denouncing the perpetuation of power and electoral fraud. So bravo to Francis Ngannou, who shines here as elsewhere," he added.
Francis Ngannou, former UFC champion, made his return to MMA in force, after distinguishing himself in boxing. This fight against Philipe Lins was his first in over a year and a half. Ngannou retained the lineal MMA heavyweight title by knocking Lins out with a left hook. The fight took place in Inglewood, California, at the MVP MMA: Rousey vs Carano event.
