Cameroon's Arabica coffee exports experienced remarkable growth in 2025, reaching 824 tons and generating revenue of 3.37 billion FCFA. These figures, released by the National Institute of Statistics (INS), reveal that export volumes more than doubled compared to the 308 tons in 2024. The value of these exports quadrupled, increasing from 846 million FCFA in 2024.
This performance is attributed not only to increased volumes but also to the improved quality of Cameroonian Arabica coffee. The National Cocoa and Coffee Board (ONCC) highlighted the qualitative improvement of Arabica in its 2024-2025 end-of-season report. According to the ONCC, a significant proportion of higher quality lots were recorded, enabling the targeting of more lucrative niche markets for producers and exporters.
Cameroonian Arabica was mainly exported to Germany, the United States, and Turkey during the 2024-2025 season. These three countries account for 88.1% of total exports, while the remaining 11.9% is distributed among other countries. However, Cameroon has expanded its customer base, now including Japan, Sudan and Taiwan.
Arabica production remains limited in Cameroon due to climatic constraints. In 2025, national production reached 1,260 tons, compared to over 10,000 tons for Robusta. Arabica is mainly grown in the Northwest and West regions, considered the most suitable for this crop.
The Cameroonian government aims to increase coffee production to 16,000 tons during the 2024-2025 season. The 2025/2026 coffee season was launched in Baditoum, underscoring the government's commitment to supporting local processing, including through a Center of Excellence to improve coffee quality. The Cameroonian coffee sector, while facing challenges such as climate change and aging farms, is showing signs of recovery thanks to improved quality and market diversification.
Coffee prices have also increased, with the price per kilogram of Arabica rising from 2,375 FCFA to 2,854 FCFA, an increase of 20.16%. This increase in revenue and prices reflects a positive dynamic for producers and the Cameroonian economy.
