Anne Féconde Noah, a leading figure in the Cameroonian Party for National Reconciliation (PCRN), has publicly denounced what she sees as a persistent and orchestrated hate campaign against Cabral Libii, the party's president. According to Noah, this campaign, which has been ongoing for several years, relies on spreading rumors, manipulations, and false information aimed at discrediting Libii in the eyes of the public.
Noah specifically pointed to a deliberate strategy aimed at building a negative image of Cabral Libii through various means, including misleading video montages, unfounded accusations, and the propagation of defamatory stories. She cited concrete examples, such as the alleged accident in Bafia, a manipulated video in which Libii allegedly made hostile remarks towards an ethnic community, as well as legal allegations in the United States and the so-called "billion" affair, all relaunched despite the absence of tangible evidence.
According to Noah, the objective of this campaign is to portray Cabral Libii as a "wicked, unempathetic, and dangerous" person in order to make him unpopular with certain segments of the population. She even identified a university professor, teaching at the war college in Yaoundé, as the architect of this smear strategy, accusing the latter of using his skills in opinion manipulation to damage Libii's reputation.
Noah claimed that this person conceived the concept of "PAWN" as a keyword for the strategy, before abandoning it in 2025 in favor of other approaches aimed at achieving the same objective. She denounced the recruitment of widely followed Facebook pages and the financing of a "Cabral-bashing" campaign orchestrated since 2017.
Cabral Libii, a rising figure in the Cameroonian political scene, has been a member of the National Assembly since February 2020. He was a candidate in the 2018 presidential election, where he finished third. The PCRN, which he leads, is considered the third political force in the country. The party won five seats in the National Assembly in the 2020 legislative elections.
These accusations come in a Cameroonian political context marked by tensions and debates surrounding the succession of President Paul Biya. Anne Féconde Noah's denunciation highlights the challenges faced by political actors in Cameroon, including the manipulation of information and disinformation campaigns.
