André Onana's future remains uncertain as his loan to Trabzonspor nears its end. The Turkish club, where the Cameroonian goalkeeper has been on loan from Manchester United since September 11, 2025, is interested in signing him permanently. However, Manchester United's financial demands could stand in the way of this transfer.
According to Turkish media outlet Günebakış, Manchester United has set Onana's price tag between 45 and 50 million euros. Zeyyat Kafkas, Trabzonspor's vice-president, confirmed that the club had been informed of these financial demands, emphasizing that Trabzonspor's president had "sincerely" communicated the club's financial situation to Manchester United.
Kafkas also indicated that Onana's intention is to continue his career at a European club, preferably in England, an opinion shared by his family. He added that Trabzonspor might reconsider its position if circumstances change.
Aged 29, Onana is under loan contract with Trabzonspor until June 30, 2028. If he is not the subject of a permanent transfer, he is expected to return to Manchester United at the end of this period.
Several costly mistakes during the 2024/25 season led Manchester United to recruit Senne Lammens, relegating Onana to the bench. On loan at Trabzonspor, Onana has had mixed performances, prompting coach Fatih Tekke to meet with him individually. Despite 21 appearances with Trabzonspor, his performances have not convinced the club to exercise the purchase option.
Onana's market value is estimated at 12 million euros by Transfermarkt. Manchester United may have to lower its demands, as it is unlikely that a club will agree to pay the asking price.
In the meantime, André Onana continues to play with Trabzonspor, who will face Kayserispor in the 25th matchday of the league.
